The MIS Division, headquartered in Denver, Colorado, USA, coordinates the management systems and processes for Opportunity's member organizations. This team is primarily responsible for the installation and support of the eMerge portfolio management software, identifying MIS needs and solutions with standardized applications, providing technical support and training, and coordinating the compatibility of all information systems.
Hyperion/Oracle/Lenovo - Through a partnership with Hyperion Corporation, Opportunity now has the capability of cross-comparing the performance of banks in Africa and in Asia, or in any of the 27 countries in which Opportunity serves. With Lenovo's contribution of cutting-edge, high-quality computer equipment, Opportunity microfinance institutions will be able to serve clients more efficiently and at a lower cost.
Smart-card/fingerprint technology - This unique technology provides a secure source of identity for vulnerable clients and enables convenient and low-cost transactions.
Remote Management of MIS - Through Opportunity's Denver, Colorado-based MIS service center, remote management enables microfinance institutions that seek additional help and support to outsource basic eMerge End Of Day and system administration functions.
New Technology Disbursement - Through a partnership with Lenovo, Opportunity will distribute computers to Implementing Partners that have expansion plans that will support an increased client outreach.
eMerge - Opportunity is currently working to implement the eMerge Helpdesk in Chennai, India, as well as supporting the installation of programs in banking startup countries.
Rural Connections - Opportunity offers mobile banks, ATMs, and point-of-sale devices to deliver client services to the most rural areas. To help improve this capability, Opportunity has become a member of Net Hope, an NGO telecommunications organization established by Cisco, Microsoft, and Baker Mackenzie along with others whose mission is to provide telecommunications services to NGOs in developing countries.
Research and Development - Opportunity has found and tested technologies that will allow the use of satellite communications in a highly secured manner and with communications speeds that are satisfactory for service needs. These findings in conjunction with the telecommunications relationship to Net Hope are crucial to the vision of National Scale expansion within the countries Opportunity serves.
Hyperion and Upstream Capabilities - The MIS service center in Denver has finished the installation of equipment, networking configurations and software, so Opportunity's focus can shift toward the completion of the connectivity to Partners' systems, the implementation of the data collection on an automated basis, and the delivery of Hyperion reports for management review.
