Opportunity International Bank Malawi was granted a full commercial banking license by the Central Bank of Malawi in March 2002. Targeting the economically poor, Opportunity International Bank Malawi is establishing branches in communities that are demographically diverse, economically active, but yet having significant incidence of poverty. The bank’s vision is guided by the Opportunity International Network commitment to a “Triple-Bottom Line” comprised of large-scale outreach, viability, and client transformation. The bank’s approach is to provide access to multiple rural financial services in the deprived communities within the areas of operation.
