Sinapi Aba Trust (SAT) is a Non-Governmental Organization, established in 1994 to extend credit facilities exclusively to poor micro entrepreneurs to help them establish or grow their own micro business. The lending facilities are extended to individual clients, and a well constituted credit-seeking group, called Trust Groups. SAT currently has 24 branches in all ten (10) regions and some district capitals in Ghana, serving over 52,000 disadvantaged poor entrepreneurs with 66% of its clients in the rural communities and 92% being women. Sinapi Aba Trust (SAT) won the Service Sector Award in the Financial & Business Services category at the Africa Small, Micro and Medium Enterprises (SMMEs) Awards 2007 in Johannesburg, South Africa organized by Africa’s Growth Research in partnership with other major stakeholders. Again, in 1999, Sinapi Aba Trust won the accolade of best highly performed Micro Finance institution within the Opportunity International Network. It has also been rated as the largest Microfinance NGO in Ghana (31st December, 2001). SAT has been rated by Planet Rating in July, 2007 and had a B+.
