Rangtay Sa Pagrang-Ay, Inc. (RSPI)

Rangtay Sa Pagrang-ay, Inc. (RSPI) is a Christian, non-government organization operating as a microfinance institution in the northern part of the Philippines. It has been in operation since March 1987. RSPI serves the Northwest area of Luzon, which includes the mountainous Cordillera Autonomous Region, home for many indigenous tribes. It also operates in the Ilocos and Pangasinan flat lands and coasts. To serve this particular market, RSPI located its head office in Baguio City, Benguet, the summer capital of the Philippines, some 250 kilometers north of Manila. Over the years it has expanded its operations in nearby provinces. As of 2007, there are a total of 10 branches. About 88% of RSPI’s clients are women. Most clients are into retail industry with 46% followed by manufacturing industry with 29%.
