Community Development

Geralyn Sheehan spearheads the efforts of the Community Development Division.  In Africa and Latin America, Opportunity International is operating pilot projects in which its microfinance institutions serve as the centerpiece for community mobilization of local leaders to solve problems and take action to improve their quality of life.  The blending of community development and microfinance leads to long-term solutions such as good paying jobs, improved access to education, healthy drinking water and growing business markets.
