Opportunity International acquires debt financing and equity for microfinance institutions, which enables them to capitalize expansion and meet requirements for long-term growth. Opportunity Transformation Investments, the Opportunity Loan Guarantee Fund, the Balkan Financial Equity Fund and Opportunity Transformation Investments (OTI) serve as the investment vehicle of Opportunity International and holds equity in Opportunity banks around the world. the Opportunity Loan Guarantee Fund, a $11.3 million fund raised by a private placement of debt securities, serves as collateral for securing loans to microfinance institutions in their local currency. Opportunity is also serving as the sponsor of the Balkan Financial Sector Equity Fund, which closed at 25 million euro ($32 million) to expand financial services throughout the region.

 

Mflo And Blue Orchard Securitizations

Opportunity, Symbiotics and the European Investment Fund have partnered to create a 28 million euro ($35.8 million) microfinance securitization — microfinance loan obligations S.A. (MFLO)— to finance opportunity banks throughout Eastern Europe. Opportunity banks in Russia and Albania have also been selected to participate in the Blue Orchard Global Securitization of $106 million for 22 microfinance institutions around the world.
