MIS Staff news

Friends, I wanted to pass on some news I recieved from Robert Westcott, our Chief Information officer. He writes:

“I am writing to let you know that Daryl Skoog and Frank Livingston have resigned from Opportunity.  Daryl and Frank plan to join an organisation called MicroPlanet which will provide IT services to the microfinance community at large.

Daryl’s last day will be Monday 16 January. Frank will assist in the handover of commercial and project matters to John O’Neill, Director IT Commercial Management, until 12 February.

Note that projects and other working arrangements with sub-contractors such as RJB Systems and the Chennai Service Centre will continue as normal until the completion of the IT outsourcing project (Project Tamarind).

This is a time of historic change for IT in Opportunity and I am sure you will all be aware of the immense contribution Daryl and Frank have made to our success over the past decade. I have asked Daryl to summarise the main achievements which he has kindly done in his farewell letter which you can download here. I think you will agree it makes impressive reading. Please join with me in thanking Daryl and Frank for their contribution and praying for success in their new venture.

There will be further changes in IT in the coming months as we continue to build a team for the future. I stress that business-as-usual activities with our existing suppliers will continue until further changes are made. Should you have any questions regarding this announcement or interim arrangements please refer them to me or John O’Neill.”

You can read Daryl’s letter here.

    Mr. Harry,

Thank you for the most insightful news about the MIS. What about the individual consultants working as OI MIS right now? Is there a plan for them to be part of the future team?

    Blessings.

      Hi Jean,

Thanks for your question. As Robert Westcott noted, this is a time of big change for Opportunity’s IT systems. It is essential we maintain the service that our Network members rely on daily and successfully complete the many projects currently in progress. This means that our arrangements with our existing IT contractors and suppliers will continue as normal until the IT Strategy that will define the future development of our IT systems is finalised. Robert and John are keeping in regular contact with our wider IT providers and consultants over this important time. Please remember them all in your prayers.
