Roy has worked with Opportunity International since 2001 and currently leads the development and implementation of its Standards and Accreditation function to address the dimensions of accreditation, risk management, and business assessment to help improved strategic planning and performance management of Opportunity institutions. Prior to his work with Opportunity, Roy enjoyed a lifetime career in commercial retail banking in the UK with Midland Bank, HSBC and MasterCard. As director of origination and governance for Mondex International Ltd., a division of MasterCard, Roy set up regulated financial institutions around the world enabling them to handle e-cash transactions, a financial activity not covered in a traditional regulatory framework. To set up these ground breaking institutions, Roy has negotiated with central banks and ministries of finance to develop governance and policy structures and developed risk management policies, procedures, and reporting processes for stakeholders.
